Former Sri Lankan superstar Tillakaratne Dilshan could play with Frankston Peninsula this coming season.

Now living in Berwick, he has been in talks with the Heat and last month played golf with club coach Keith Jansz, new president Cameron Wallace, captain Scott Boland and a club sponsor.

“We haven’t put pen to paper or offered him anything at this point in time,” Jansz said.

“If he plays for a Premier club it will probably be with us.”

Jansz said Dilshan, should he play, would captain Frankston Peninsula for the entire season in all formats.

“It will be great not just for the competition but for the club, that injection of energy and excitement,” Jansz said.

“It would add to a broader audience as well — the Sri Lankan community and the sub continent people who love and revere him.”

Dilshan, 42, was the inventor of the “Dil-scoop” ramp shot over the wicketkeeper’s head.
