MPCA clearances: Mathers, Libby, Parslow change clubs

There’s been a stack of MPCA clearances granted in the past week, with some big names switching clubs. Take a look.

Baxter batsman Bobby Parslow plays a late cut last season.

MPCA clearances opened on August 1, and there’s been a steady flow of applications lodged.

More than 20 have been rubber stamped, with some fine players among them.

After six seasons with Rosebud, Jason Mathers has been cleared back to his junior club, Mt Martha.

Mathers coached Rosebud for three seasons and played in its MPCA District flag last season.

Another champion going home is Justin Bridgeman, who has been cleared to Long Island after five seasons at Baxter.

Other prodigal sons returning home are Tootgarook all-rounder Jaryd Millington, who is back at Mt Martha, and talented all-rounder Ben Williams, who has gone back to Frankston YCW after two seasons at Langwarrin.

Williams was part of Langwarrin’s Jack Peacock Cup grand final win over Sorrento last season.

Jaryd Millington has returned to Mt Martha.

South Croydon all-rounder Zac Staggard has been cleared to Seaford, which has also secured Langwarrin paceman Andrew Smith and Rosebud batsman Ryan Godwin.

Tootgarook has gained two quality players, Anthony Craddock, from Skye, and Bobby Parslow, from Baxter.

Parslow, who has played some quality Provincial cricket with both Sorrento and Baxter, is a former Frogs junior.

English left-arm spinner Andrew Libby has joined Provincial premiers Sorrento after captaining Tootgarook last season.

In other MPCA news, clubs will vote on Monday night whether to accept Devon Meadows into the association.

Andrew Libby will bolster the Sorrento bowling attack.
