Mentone continues to get stronger over the off-season.
First came the big signing of Premier Cricket batsman Comrey Edgeworth.
Now the Tigers have bolstered their bowling stocks, securing Old Mentonians paceman Darcy Brown.
The right-armer took over 250 wickets for Old Mentonians in the past decade.
He also captained the Panthers.
Brown links with a bunch of good mates at Mentone; he went to school and played footy with several, including Edgeworth.
Mentone reached the grand final of Division 1 last season, losing to Mordialloc in a tight, tense match.
“The team looks super,” Mentone’s Simon Cormie said of the Tigers’ 2021-22 lineup.
“We have lost no one, plus the addition of Comrey and Darcy.
“(Matt) Walker, (Matt) Williams, (skipper Dane) Heverin and Gav Brown are all back for another tilt at it.”
Brown will bolster a Tigers’ attack featuring young gun Ed McGarry, Walker, Chris Smyth, Rod Tunbridge and Walker.
Edgeworth played 18 matches for Dandenong last season but was dropped for the grand final against Prahran.
He’s considered one of the recruiting coups of the Cricket Southern Bayside off-season.
Meanwhile, Parkdale, which drops to Division 1, will again be captained by former Frankston Peninsula all-rounder Dale Elmi, with Chris Wilkie and Ned Vasey his vice captains.
Murrumbeena will again be skippered by Brad Kruger.
