A dodgy driver gets double the normal ban after admitting he drove up Dandy Rd the wrong way — then stopped to do burnouts.

The hoon was recorded by witnesses performing the stupid stunt, but had left the scene by the time police got there.

When he was later interviewed he told officers he couldn’t recollect the driving, although when shown photos he admitted he was the driver and the car was his.

Todor Mitrevski pleaded guilty to a dangerous driving charge at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard the 28-year-old jobless man, who wants to be a truck driver, drove towards oncoming traffic on the wrong side of Dandenong Rd in Clayton around lunchtime on March 7 last year.

Other drivers were forced to take evasive action to miss him, before he slowed down and did the screeching donuts in the middle of the road.

He then calmly drove off — again the wrong way — into a service lane and through a liquor store drive-thru.

In court his defence lawyer said it was concerning and unacceptable behaviour, and while his client accepted it was him doing the driving, he had no explanation as to why it happened.

He said Mitrevski didn’t have any alcohol or drug concerns, but did suffer severe anxiety issues.

Magistrate Charles Tan said it was a “very, very serious example” of dangerous driving that could have ended terribly for him or other motorists.

He said even though Mitrevski had no priors, had accepted guilt and this seemed to be a one-off, it was a significant act that deserved more than the mandatory minimum six-month ban.

Mitrevski was convicted and fined $1600, and had his licence disqualified for 12 months.
