A HOON who foolishly did a burnout in front of police on April 1 has been hit with a ban, a fine and told to do a safe driving program.

The reckless road user was with other revhead mates when he lit up the tyres of his hotted-up Toyota at a Keysborough intersection.

Bailey Wall pleaded guilty to a range of charges, including careless driving, at Frankston Magistrates’ Court today (Sept 17).

The court heard at around 11.35pm on April 1 this year Wall was in his Toyota Supra and with another three cars travelling along Springvale Rd in Keysborough.

They came to a stop at the Waterways Boulevard intersection before he accelerated heavily, did a U-turn and lost traction.

His car spun the wheels, slid and fishtailed before the watching police pulled him over.

He told officers that he was “showing off” and said “I’m a d***head” for doing the blatant burnout.

His car was impounded on the spot.

The whole situation then went from bad to worse.

On the day he got the car back from the impound yard, he was snapped speeding and then the car was written off in a crash.

The speeding caused him to rack up too many demerit points, so now he has no licence, no car and no job, as he was sacked because he needed his licence to get to work.

Representing himself in court he said he had now sold what was left of the car as his mum was sick of seeing the car shell in the yard.

Magistrate Dominic Lennon said Wall had a poor driving history and risked jail if he did it again.

“You’ve chalked up a few offences now,” Mr Lennon said.

“You keep reoffending, you will face a community corrections order, or even jail.”

Wall was convicted, fined $1000, suspended for another six months and told he must do a safe driving course before he can get his licence back.
