Christopher Irwin threatened to bleed neighbour “like a f***ing pig”

A drunk man who threatened to bleed his neighbour “like a f***ing pig” has been given a good behaviour bond.

A drunk dressed only his underpants threatened to gut his neighbour and “bleed (him) like a f***ing pig” because he was upset over the man cutting his trees down.

A court has heard the boozed-up bloke launched a wooden stake — and a verbal tirade — towards the neighbour in the middle of the night.

Christopher Irwin pleaded guilty to a threatening to an inflict serious injury charge at Dromana Magistrates’ Court on November 22.

The court heard the 49-year-old had had a long-running civil dispute with his St Andrews Beach neighbour over property boundaries.

It blew up at around 4am on August 5 this year when the neighbour heard a big bang outside his bedroom window.

He went outside to investigate, saw a wooden stake on the ground, and Irwin, just in his underwear, threatening him, telling him would “bleed (him) like a f***ing pig”.

The stake had been thrown at his window, but luckily the glass had not smashed.

Police were called, and when they tried to talk to an intoxicated Irwin, he was abusive towards them too.

He was arrested and spent a few hours in the station drunk tank as he was unfit for interview.

When he was sober he was remorseful, and admitted he had acted like a “d***head”.

In court his lawyer said the crane driver was very upset that in the preceding days the neighbour had cut down some of Irwin’s trees.

She said that was the “straw that broke the camel’s back” and he lashed out, but he was sorry and normally of good character.

Magistrate Timothy Gattuso said things could escalate very seriously very quickly when bits of wood were thrown and threatening comments made.

“I can see there is animosity, and you were upset about the trees, but you can’t act the way you did,” Mr Gattuso said.

Irwin was given a two-year good behaviour bond and ordered to pay $300 to the court fund. No conviction was recorded.
