An out of control Mildura thug who committed a series of violent crimes has been jailed.

Shane Kirby, who attacked one man while he sat in a parked car and assaulted another man on a separate occasion with a metal pole, has been locked up for six months after pleading guilty in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court to assault charges.

Kirby also pleaded guilty to an incident where he threw a brick at another person.

The brick missed the intended target and shattered a car windscreen instead.

On top of that, the court heard he was part of a brazen shoplifting attack on August 7, 2023 at the local Dan Murphys.

Kirby, for his part, stole a bottle of Jack Daniels valued at $79.95.

The larger group allegedly stole about $2000 worth of liquor.

Kirby appeared from remand, where he has already spent 97 days, as his lawyer told the court of his battles with drug addiction and his own mental health.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan told Kirby his guilty plea meant he would be serving six months instead of ten months behind bars.
