Driver fined following crash into Sunshine West childcare centre
The woman behind the wheel of a car that ploughed into a Sunshine childcare centre has been issued a penalty notice. Here’s what we know.

The female driver who crashed through the fence of a childcare centre, just metres from where a dozen infants were playing, will have her licence reviewed after copping a fine.
A 36-year-old Sunshine West woman was the sole occupant of a vehicle that crashed into Rose Garden Sunshine Early Learning Centre last week, narrowly avoiding children and staff who were in the playground at the time.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman on Monday confirmed the driver was issued a penalty notice for careless driving, fined $444, accrued three demerit points and will be required to undergo a licence review.
Emergency services responded to the incident about 10.40am on Friday following reports a car had crashed into the Link St centre.
The 36-year-old driver was uninjured and has assisted police in their investigation.
A police spokeswoman on Friday said that children were in the vicinity of the playground but no one was injured.
“14 infants who were inside the play area at the time were not injured and were assessed by paramedics at the scene,” she said.
One toddler was transported to Sunshine Hospital in a stable condition for observation.
A spokeswoman for G8 Education said they were thankful no children, staff or the driver were injured during the incident.
A woman, who wished not to be named, said her child attended the early learning centre but were not in attendance on Friday.
“My baby was not in class today. He had the day at home today,” she said.
Multiple Fire Rescue Victoria and police vehicles were on scene to cordon off the damaged fence and begin the investigation into how the incident occurred.
