An allegedly drunk driver knocked a petrol bowser out of the ground after he lost control of his car at a roundabout and went flying through a nearby petrol station.
Fortunately, the United Petroleum on Mountain Hwy, The Basin wasn’t open when the black 4WD slammed into the middle petrol bowser, ripping it from the ground, about 1am.
And the driver didn’t stick around.
He was arrested not far from the scene soon after the smash, according to Rowville police Sergeant Serena Wilkins.
She said the driver returned a positive reading for being under the influence of alcohol and was taken back to Knox police station.
Knox Leader understands the driver had been going through the roundabout at the intersection of Mountain Hwy and Liverpool Rd when he lost control of the car and went hurtling into the service station.
He also took out a road sign on his way off the road.
Petrol station manager Azam Mohammed said the franchise had only closed an hour earlier.
It remains shut today as technicians work to replace the bowser.

Mr Mohammed said he did not know how much the repair would cost, but said closing the station and the Quickstop shop for the day would mean losing about $2000 in takings.
Immediately after the crash members from The Basin Fire Brigade worked to make the scene safe.
The Basin Fire Brigade Third lieutenant James Pearton said there was surprisingly only a little bit of fuel to mop up at the “unique job”.
But the six volunteers stayed working to secure the scene until about 3.30am.
