Paw patrol has a new meaning with a Ringwood pensioner and his feline friend setting the pace in their neighbourhood.
Roy Field, 80, has been walking his 12-year-old ginger cat Marmaduke daily for the past nine years.
And they’re not just doing a short walk up the street either — the duo pound the pavement in a 3.2km loop in the heart of Ringwood.
Mr Field said he was forced to put Marmaduke on a lead after he nearly got hit by a truck when they started going for walks.
“At the start he kept going across the road, there were a few near misses,” Mr Field said.
“He didn’t take to it at first, but he realised if he doesn’t go on the lead, he doesn’t go out, so he’s accepted it.”

Mr Field said walking his cat was a great way to get his daily exercise fix.
He said he and Marmaduke often gets lots of attention from bystanders and photo requests.
“Lots of people are interested in it, they’ve never seen a cat on a lead,” Mr Field said.
“He’s not your ordinary cat, he will run up to people meowing because he wants a fuss.”
