Fitness fanatics can get their exercise fix and support a superb cause when a set of Maroondah gyms rev up the treadmills on Friday.
Anytime Fitness’ gyms in Ringwood, Ringwood North and Lilydale are hosting a 24-hour treadmill challenge from 3pm in support of the R U OK Foundation.
It’s the second year the gyms have held the fundraiser after they raised more than $3000 for Suicide Prevention Australia last year.
Anytime Fitness Ringwood club manager Meagan Donovan said this year’s event would be even bigger and she hoped her club could raise $5000.
She said about 100 people had already signed up to do a 30 minute slot at the Eastland gym, with a handful of participants planning to run for two-three hours.
“Suicide prevention is a cause close to my heart and the community’s heart, and a lot of our members have been impacted in some way,” Ms Donovan said.

“Research shows exercise and feeling connected to others improves wellbeing, so that’s why we’re running a treadmill event.”
Runners can sign up for a 30-minute slot between 3pm Friday and 3pm Saturday for a $10 donation.
All runners will get a showbag of goodies from the gym and other sponsors.
The Ringwood gym is also hosting a silent auction and a raffle, and non-gym members are welcome to come and watch during the event.
