Ringwood: The Sebel hotel offers discounts, starts taking bookings ahead of February 22 opening

Wedding guests and Yarra Valley explorers are expected to make a new premium hotel a hub — and order charcuterie boards and wine to take up to their rooms — in Melbourne’s outer east. And an opening date has been set.

Ringwood’s swanky new $30 million hotel is set to open in late February with construction rapidly moving along despite the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Bookings are now open for the seven-storey The Sebel Ringwood with operators Accor Hotels welcoming guests from February 22.

The hotel is on a prime site near the corner of Maroondah Highway and Wantirna Rd, and is close to the Ringwood Clocktower and Eastland.

Despite offering “refined and considered accommodation”, the hotel’s neighbours across the road will include nightclubs, a Club X store, Chemist Warehouse, a tattoo parlour and a kebab shop.

The Sebel Ringwood will boast 103 rooms and apartments, all of which will have pillow top beds, skincare products and espresso machines.

Fifteen of the rooms will have kitchenettes, and the complex will also have a fitness centre, four meeting spaces and an open-air terrace.

Guests will also be able to order charcuterie boards and wine and take them up to their rooms.

The hotel’s ground floor dining space The Orchard will boast a deli, restaurant and bar open to the public - with the hotel claiming the deli focus as an Australian first.

The Sebel Ringwood general manager Edmond Power said the hotel would be the chain’s 34th in Australia and provide a “premium accommodation offering” for Ringwood.

“The Sebel brand is for independent, sophisticated people who are well travelled,” he said.

“Ringwood’s an increasingly important commercial corridor … from an accommodation perspective this will be a great addition and give customers a lot more choice.”

Mr Power said the hotel would appeal to visitors from regional Victoria on weekends and business and corporate travellers during the week.

He also felt the hotel would initially be an attractive option to wedding guests and those wanting to explore the Yarra Valley.

“There will be a lot of people who haven’t had the opportunity to get married and we know there is a huge backlog of demand,” he said.

Rooms at The Sebel Ringwood will range from $220-$400 per night, with Accor Hotels offering a 50 per cent discount on the second night of a two-night stay as an opening special.

Guests will also be allowed free cancellation up until 6pm of the night of their booking.
