A trendy new Nunawading cafe is so popular customers are being advised to make a booking to avoid waiting for tables on weekends.
Run by the owners of Mont Albert’s booming Mister and Miss cafe, Mr Robertson has quickly become one of Nunawading’s most in-demand spots to enjoy brunch and a coffee.
And it’s geared up to also become one of the area’s best function venues, hosting fully-licensed events with up to 100 people.
Business partners Dennis Chronis and Christina Panettieri opened the cafe in an industrial part of Nunawading on Norcal Rd in July, three and a half years after they opened Mister and Miss.
Mr Chronis said the pair were looking to expand their business, and were preparing to service the hundreds of apartments and townhouses soon to be built opposite the cafe at the former Nunawading brickworks site.
But they haven’t needed to wait for the business.
The cafe has been “filling up solid”, with many customers taking to Facebook to recommend the brunch spot.
Like Mister and Miss, it serves a diverse menu of “modern brunch cuisine”, but Mr Chronis said the cafe aimed to offer something a little different to its sister.
The kitchen’s signature dishes include buttermilk pancakes served with vanilla mascarpone, chocolate, seasonal fruits and drizzled with maple syrup, and crushed avocado on multigrain toast with feta, radish, heirloom tomatoes and poached eggs.
Mr Robertson also offers an extensive lunch menu, featuring pizzas, salads, a parma, steak sandwich and the popular Wagyu beef burger and Moroccan chicken burgers.
And the cafe caters for high quality on-the-go meals, with its entire menu available to takeaway.
The modern space at Mr Roberston has just been short-listed in the 2019 Eat Drink Design awards, which celebrate the design of hospitality venues in Australia and New Zealand.

It has been designed to cater for functions as well as brunch sessions.
Mr Chronis said the business had already hosted a 21st and a 60th and had received a lot of inquiries for functions over the coming holiday season.
Mr Robertson has a liquor-license and offers a full menu of finger foods to suit a range of occasions.
The cafe is open seven days a week and can be found at G01/31—39 Norcal Rd, Nunawading.
