A Mulgrave man has been charged with dangerous driving after a motorcyclist died in a horror crash in Melbourne’s east.

A motorcycle and car collided at the intersection of Middleborough Rd and the Burwood Hwy at Burwood East about 2.30pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old Forest Hill man, died at the scene.

The 18-year-old man has been charged with culpable driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, drive whilst authorisation suspended, and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The Mulgrave man has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 9 January.

The death adds to the rising fatality toll on Victoria’s roads this month, as a man died in a two car crash at Derrinal earlier the same day.

In the early hours of January 5 a man died in a crash at Kilmany on the Princes Highway, near Sale.

The day before, four people were killed in a two car collision near Shepparton and a truck driver died when his vehicle rolled off the Hume Freeway in Tallarook.
