If your childhood included spooning Milo into your mouth straight from the tin, or snacking on Iced VoVos we might have found the milkshake for you.
Take a stroll down memory lane on Australia Day with what could just be the most Aussie shake yet thanks to Brewlab — run by the original Mr Ristretto owners.
Ingredients include a milo milkshake, topped with a jam lamington, Golden Gaytime ice cream, Iced Vovo, Curly Wurly, Wagon Wheel, fairy floss and chocolate ice cream.
Owner Corey Williams said while the shake did not yet have a name it could be dubbed The Steve Irwin.
Mr Williams and his family have taken back the reins of the coffee spot about 10 weeks ago after a year’s break.
He said the milkshake was reminiscent of treats he would snack on as a child.
“I used to have Milo with milk, Milo on ice cream, or just spoon it straight out of the tin. You’d cop a mouthful of dust,” Mr Williams said.
“It’s part of Australian culture.”
And while many people these days may reach for a Twix at the supermarket, as a kid it was always the Curly Wurly from the milk bar, he said.
“We thought it 110 per cent had to feature in the shake,” Mr Williams said.
“We’ve also included the Golden Gaytime because it’s the quintessential Australian ice cream, followed closely by the Paddle Pop.”

The cafe will also be serving some other Australia Day specials including a chicken parma eggs Benedict, and cold brew coffees served in a (cleaned out) VB stubby.
“We’ll have the rock tunes pumping all day,” he said.
“It’s a bit of fun and a nice day out.”
