Work on Westfield Knox’s $355 million upgrade, including a new Aldi and Woolworths, is well underway.

Work to upgrade ceilings and flooring is taking place on Level 1 near Best & Less and Millers.

A section of the centre has been blocked off to allow construction work to take place, with a number of stores including Sportsgirl now closed.

The old Myer store is also no more, bulldozed to make way for the new development.

The first stage will include a new fresh food market on Level 1, featuring a selection of new and existing retail partners and food catering experiences alongside the new supermarkets.

The fresh food market is expected to open later this year.

The names of other new retailers are expected to be announced soon.

THE GLEN

Shoppers at The Glen are lamenting the closure of Caffe Cherry Beans near Aldi.

The popular cafe has been boarded up, disappointing many coffee fans who enjoyed catching up at the venue.

Shoppers have also taken to Facebook to question whether popular discount store Daiso is still planning to open at the centre.

A board next to Spotlight has advertised the new store is coming for several months, but there’s still no word on an opening date.

Meanwhile, Foodao, a popular Chinese food chain, is coming to the food court, while FancyLife Cosmetics is also opening soon.

Other features include an expanded fresh produce department, with an extensive array of fruits

and vegetables, as well as an open front bakery offering freshly flipped flatbread, gourmet sourdough, and a patisserie range including celebration cakes.
