A man with a distinctive rats tail allegedly flashed his headlights at pedestrians before driving straight towards them during a frightening incident at a basketball stadium in Kilsyth.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to as they investigate that incident, and the theft of a credit card which was allegedly used at three different locations earlier this month.

Police have been told a man allegedly stole a number of items from a car in Newcastle St Yarraville about 4.15pm Sunday, January 8.

Police believe the man then allegedly used the victim’s credit card at a service station in Footscray, a milkbar and fast-food store in Kingsville and at another service station in Little River.

Detectives have released images of a man who has been captured on CCTV getting in and out of a black BMW X4, with allegedly stolen registration plates, at the location of all the deceptions.

The BMW X4 was also allegedly spotted near a basketball stadium in Kilsyth about 9pm January 9.

Police have received reports the BMW’s headlights were seen flashing before the driver allegedly drove towards two pedestrians and then quickly swerved away at the last minute.

Two back seat passengers then jumped out and allegedly threatened the pedestrians before they got back in the car, which was last seen driving away on Paramount Ave.

Police would like to speak to a man believed to be about 19-years-old, described as caucasian, about 180cm with a medium build and brown hair.

The man is also described as having a distinctive long rats tail and was wearing a white Rip Curl T-shirt, grey track pants and blue Nike TNs.

The BMX was found abandoned in Glade Court, Berwick about 9.45am on December 19.

Any details to Crime Stoppers.
