UPDATE 12.28PM: A woman has been charged with the murder of an elderly man in the state’s Wimmera region.

Jodie Hill, 42, is accused of murdering John Hunter, 71, at his Victoria St property in Dimboola.

Homicide squad detectives allege he was killed sometime between January 20 and January 23.

His body was found on January 23 about 5pm.

Ms Hill, also from Dimboola, faced the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

She appeared via videolink from the dock at Horsham Magistrates’ Court, wearing a black singlet.

The court heard it was not her first time in custody.

Defence lawyer Mario Saoud told the court she suffered from bi-polar disorder and anxiety.

Mr Saoud also said Ms Hill was suffering a deep tissue infection involving her knee and had been released from hospital on Monday.

She required pain medication for the injury, he said.

The Magistrate ordered Ms Hill be seen by a nurse in custody as soon as possible.

Ms Hill remained silent for the duration of the filing hearing except when asked if she understood what had transpired.

“Thank you, yes,” Ms Hill said.

Her co-accused, a 54-year-old Dimboola man, was also charged over the man’s murder earlier this month.

Ms Hill was remanded in custody.

She will next face court in July for a committal hearing.

EARLIER: Two people have been charged after the death of a man in Dimboola last month.

A woman was charged on Wednesday and a man earlier in the month following the discovery of a 71-year-old, Dimboola man’s body on January 23.

On February 3, a 54-year-old Dimboola man was arrested and was subsequently charged with murder.

Wednesday morning saw the arrest of a 42-year-old Dimboola woman who was also charged with murder.

The woman has been remanded in custody and will appear at Horsham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The man was remanded in custody to face Horsham Magistrates’ Court in July.

The charges come after a man’s body was located deceased at his Victoria Street property on January 23.
