A cheeky fox has been captured on camera stealing a boot from a couple’s Heathmont veranda.
Emma Lovick shared a video of the fox, nicknamed Boots, stealing her husband Ben’s leather boot last Saturday night, August 12.
“We found it on the front lawn all chewed up in the morning,” she said.
“I’ve removed all shoes from the deck since so hasn’t happened again or prior to that.
“We are used to seeing foxes in the area and on our street but to see one on our deck exploring was a bit unnerving.
“Then to see it take a shoe we were in disbelief.
“We nicknamed him “Boots” after the shoe he took and shared it with the community as we thought it would bring a smile to the locals as there are always posts about foxes.
“The foxes seem to be getting more adventurous!”
Foxes have a history of stealing shoes – in 2019 Jim Massa’s security camera captured a fox sneaking onto the porch of his Coburg home and stealing his son’s school shoes.
A sneaky fox was also caught on CCTV stealing a priceless pair of thongs from the front deck of a Watsonia home that same year.
Ms Lovick also captured a video of a large fox walking down her Heathmont street in June.
The Herald Sun recently revealed pest experts reported foxes were killing more small pets and becoming fearless around humans.
A train passenger got the fright of her life when three foxes jumped out from bushes into her path as she walked to Gardiner station in Glen Iris in January.
