A washed-up Healesville muso repeatedly punched his friend in the face before turning on police officers in a drunken fit, a court has heard.

Cameron Ruffino, 33, pleaded guilty to the assault in the Ringwood Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Ruffino — who used to be a singer in a local band but is now unemployed — admitted to punching his friend in the face after they were drinking on June 12, 2021.

He then went to leave the home but realised his alcohol was still in the victim’s backyard.

Police found Ruffino with blood dripping from his knuckles after smashing a window to get his drinks.

He kicked a police officer as he was being loaded into the back of a police van.

On another occasion in February 2022, Ruffino again clashed with police officers in an attempt to avoid being taken into custody after two warrants were issued for his arrest.

Ruffino told the court the offending was fuelled by his significant alcohol issues and said he had moved to Queensland for a fresh start.

Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge fined Ruffino $1500 with conviction.
