A Bayswater teenager has taken police on a dramatic stolen car chase across the eastern suburbs, only to drive home and hide under his bed to avoid arrest.
Cameron Moss, 19, pleaded guilty to a slew of driving offences relating to the car chase and theft charges.
Moss, who was on his L plates at the time, was driving a stolen car in Wantirna when police attempted to pull him over around midnight on January 2, 2025.
Moss drove at high speeds, through red lights and on the wrong side of the road while officers and the Air Wing followed him through the suburbs.
At 1am, after police used stop sticks to pop his tyres, Moss drove back towards his Bayswater home, parked the car and hid under his bed.
Moss was arrested and told police his offending was “stupid” when he was interviewed.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of dollars worth of clothing from stores at Knox Westfield and over another stolen car crash last year.
Magistrate Gerard Lethbridge told the apprentice roof plumber he must engage with therapeutic court programs before he was sentenced.
Moss, who remains on bail, was warned to not reoffend before his next court date.
“If you reoffend, you will be back in custody and struggling to get out,” Magistrate Lethbridge said.
Moss will be sentenced in May.
