Two fires ravage Banyule Waste Recovery Centre recycling facility

Firefighters are working to extinguish two fires at a Banyule waste recovery centre.

Firefighters are battling to extinguish two fires inside the Banyule Waste Recovery Centre on

Waterdale Rd, Bellfield.

Two fires were spotted on a conveyor belt and in a recycling area at 3.14pm on Monday.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said the two fires were contained after two aerial trucks were deployed.

“Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find two seats of fire within a factory, one within a recycling area and another on a conveyor belt,” they said.

“Firefighters contained the fire within the recycling area.”

No one was injured and the cause of the fires will be investigated.

Victoria Police is on the scene and WorkSafe has been notified.
