MONTMORENCY Primary School students and staff are jumping for joy with a $5 million cash splash promised by the Liberal Party, if it wins the state election.
Eltham Liberal candidate Nick McGowan said the funding would allow the school to build a new STEM and arts facility, a space for before and after school care plus expand the successful Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.
Community groups would also be able to hire the building.

Principal Janene Worsam said the funding would “realise our vision in creating curious, creative and collaborative learners”.
“These opportunities at our school will benefit students for the rest of their lives,” she said.
The school was upgraded in 2013 to accommodate 220 students but it will soon boast more than 325 students.
“We want our students in public education to have the best that our teachers, community and government can offer,” she said.
Mr McGowan said the much-loved school deserves an upgrade.
“It faces continuing growth in its numbers due to the quality education it delivers and the popularity of the surrounding suburbs,” he said.
“This project can wait no longer.”
Opposition education spokesman Tim Smith said Montmorency primary has an outstanding reputation for quality education and deserved new and modern facilities to teach and learn in.
The Liberals have also promised $900,000 for Research CFA. Mr McGowan said $500,000 was for a new pumper tanker while another $350,000 will be used to modernise the brigade, including a new training facility. “They deserve to have the best facilities,” he said.
