Police charge man with Eltham burglaries, separate offender still on the run

A man, 24, has been charged after a disturbing spate of daylight burglaries in Eltham last week.
The West Meadows man was charged with three burglaries which allegedly occurred between October 7-9. He is currently on remand.
The man is alleged to have stolen jewellery and other small valuables from homes around Bible St.
But Eltham Sergeant Simon Webber said police are still chasing another man who is believed to be responsible for a fourth burglary in the same area on Tuesday, October 8.
A homeowner allegedly stepped out of the shower to find the man ransacking their house.
He was last seen running down Franklin St about 2pm.
They have released an image of a man they wish to speak to over the incident.
Banyule Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating whether the two alleged offenders were working together or are known to each other.

Sgt Webber encouraged homeowners in the area to secure their properties, hide any valuables in a safe or small compartment and monitor CCTV.
