Police ‘concerned’ after four burglaries in three days in Eltham
Burglars searching for jewellery and other small valuables are ransacking homes in Eltham in broad daylight with one terrified resident stepping out of their shower and catching the crooks in the act. Police say it’s part of a new disturbing trend.

Police are urging Eltham homeowners to be on high alert after four burglaries in three days during broad daylight.
Sergeant Simon Webber said homeowners had been away on three occasions, while one unlucky resident stepped out of the shower to find a stranger ransacking their house in a separate incident.
The offences occurred between October 7 and 9.
He said offender or offenders were targeting jewellery and other small valuables in properties around Bible St.
“It is a trend that we are a bit concerned about at the moment,” Sgt Webber said.
“These person or persons responsible might be targeting these homes in broad daylight suspecting the homeowners are out at work, but in most cases the neighbours have reported what’s happened to police.
“We’re asking anyone who sees any suspicious people or vehicles in the area to come forward — any piece of information you may have can help our investigations.”

Sgt Webber encouraged homeowners to secure their properties, hide any valuables in a safe or small compartment and monitor CCTV.
