Melbourne’s worst paedophiles: Jack Perry aka Zig the clown, Boris Kunsevitsky and more
This man ran a child porn and abuse empire out of his South Morang bedroom so disgusting other paedophiles refused to mix with him in jail. And he’s not the only predator to have lurked in Melbourne’s northwest.

They’ve preyed on our city’s most vulnerable and their despicable acts have been aired in courts and in the media.
These are some of the convicted child sex offenders who have in common their depraved offences and their connection to Melbourne’s northwest suburbs.
But what happened to them and where are they now?
JACK PERRY aka ‘ZIG THE CLOWN’
Perry, better known as Zig, one half of the Zig and Zag clown duo, was convicted at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court in 1994 of sex offences against a child.
However, Perry’s crimes weren’t known until 1999 just before and his partner were almost crowned Moomba Monarchs.
The formerly prominent duo stood down from Moomba and never worked again.
Perry, also famous for wearing a “Peter’s Ice Cream” bucket hat, died in 2006 aged 88 or 89.
STEPHEN MAXWELL MURRAY
Murray, who has three convictions for indecently assaulting teenage boys in the 1990s, kept being discovered working at stores likely to be frequented by children or teenagers.
In 2005, the sexual predator was sacked after being caught working behind the counter of comics shop The Crypt in Footscray
Ten years later Murray was outed operating Animasia, a former Carlton store which sold models, comics, games and films based on Japanese anime.
In 2018, Murray was spotted working at a King St convenience store — less than 100m from Haileybury College’s recently opened city campus.
Murray quit soon after and hasn’t been heard from since.
FATHER ANTHONY BONGIORNO
The disgraced former Catholic priest was revealed to be a paedophile who molested at least one boy — the son of murdered Thornbury bookshop owner Maria James.
Bongiorno knew the James’ family well and was the one who told her sons that their mother had been murdered.
According to reporting by veteran Herald Sun journalist Keith Moor, Detectives obviously didn’t know it at the time, but decades later it emerged that Bongiorno might have murdered Ms James, with a cover up of his sex crimes being a possible motive for the murder.
Bongiorno died in 2002 having never been convicted of any child sex offence.
Ms James’ 1980 murder remains unsolved.
MATTHEW DAVID GRAHAM
Graham’s crimes were so shocking that his 2016 County Court sentencing judge said the offending was “unprecedented” and its scale had “never before been dealt with by authorities in Australia”.
Graham ran a child porn and abuse empire out of his South Morang bedroom.
The offending was so vile even other paedophiles refused to mix with him in jail.
The vile material he peddled included the sexual torture, killing and mutilation of children by adults.
Graham controlled other paedophiles and gave them detailed instructions on how to produce child pornography and abuse children.
He encouraged the abduction and murder of a girl in Russia and the abuse of a paralysed and mute girl by her carer.
Graham also tried selling a vile video produced by Australian paedophile Peter Scully for 900 Bitcoin.
Graham’s websites attracted up to 400,000 hits-a-day and included people who posted images of themselves abusing their own children.
Graham was jailed for a maximum 15 years and with a minimum of 10 years.
BORIS KUNSEVITSKY
Dubbed Australia’s worst paedophile, Kunsevitsky preyed on 47 children across four countries, filming them performing sex acts and telling them to smile as they winced in pain.
Supreme Court judge John Champion jailed Kunsevitsky in January for 35 years, describing his abuse of young boys as “harrowing”and “despicable”.
Investigators discovered 35,344 pictures and 4810 videos on Kunsevitsky’s hard drives under folders including “Jailbait” and his victim’s names.
Kunsevitsky, a former nurse at the Austin, pleaded guilty to 59 sexual offences against children over a 15-year period from 2002 to 2017 in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
His victims were aged from 10 to 16.
Among the youngest was a 12-year-old boy in Melbourne, who he had met in an online chatroom and abused over two years.
He will be eligible for parole after serving 28 years.
ROBIN FLETCHER
The self-proclaimed sex witch and cult leader, Fletcher was jailed in 1998 for eight years after he prostituted, raped and enslaved two 15-year-old girls in the 1990s.
Fletcher was released from prison in 2006 but kept under supervision at Corella Place, the so-called Village of the Damned until 2017 when his supervision order was revoked.
He was allowed to teach theology at the Australian Church of Antioch in Alphington — just two minutes’ walk from a children’s playground at Pitcher Park.
Fletcher resurfaced later in 2017 when it was revealed he was living near a primary school but hasn’t been heard from since.
ANDREW DARLING
Another notorious resident of the Village of the Damned, Darling was convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
Darling was released from prison in May 2009 after serving a nine-year sentence but was placed under supervision at Corella Place.
Darling sparked a massive manhunt in 2014 after he clipped his ankle bracelet and walked out of the Ararat facility.
He was later found hiding in a public toilet block in Ballarat.
