Extreme child porn master Matthew David Graham locked up for ‘twisted and evil’ crimes

A PREDATOR pervert who ran a worldwide extreme child sex abuse empire will spend at least 10 years behind bars in likely solitary confinement.

Matthew David Graham’s crimes are so shocking County Court Judge Michael Tinney said his offending was unprecedented and its scale had never before been dealt with by authorities in Australia.

"It was a twisted and evil life you were leading in the dark shadows of the cyber world," Judge Tinney said today.

Graham, 23, ran a child porn and abuse empire that was so vile even other paedophiles refused to mix with him and he has been assaulted in jail, requiring his solitary confinement.

Judge Tinney refused to describe some of the images and videos peddled by Graham through a number of websites he ran from an Apple computer in his South Morang bedroom.

But they included the sexual torture, killing and mutilation of children by adults.

Graham — who was supported in court by his family — controlled other paedophiles and gave them detailed instructions on how to produce child pornography and abuse children.

He encouraged the abduction and murder of a girl in Russia and the abuse of a paralysed and mute girl by her carer — crimes that attract a 20 year maximum sentence.

"You were at the very top of the tree," Judge Tinney said.

The FBI described material produced by Graham as among the most brutal and abusive ever uncovered by authorities.

So revolting are the images and video, Judge Tinney only reluctantly agreed to view sample images.

At the height of his offending, Graham taunted the FBI, encouraging paedophiles to continue abusing children.

Prosecutor Krista Brekweg earlier described one video showing the abuse of an 18-month-old girl as "one of worst things you could see".

The video was made in the Philippines by notorious Australian paedophile Peter Scully, and Graham tried to sell it for up to 900 bitcoins.

Graham's websites attracted up to 400,000 hits-a-day and included people who posted images of themselves abusing their own children.

After his arrest, in August 2014, Graham initially refused to hand over passwords and made a

no-comment interview.

Judge Tinney said Graham lacked empathy and had a schizoid personality.

Graham was sentenced to 15 years and six months jail.

He must serve at least 10 years before being eligible for parole.
