Heartless thieves break into Lalor home to steal french bulldog pup

When a Lalor man came home from a birthday party to find his house had been ransacked, he realised thieves had stolen “one of the most important things in my world”.

Piper has not been seen since being stolen on Sunday afternoon.

A Lalor man has launched a mammoth search for his beloved french bulldog puppy Piper after cruel crooks broke into his home and stole the valuable pet.

Brent Evans said he had distributed more than 500 flyers and a Facebook post pleading for help to find the 17-week-old fawn puppy had been shared by about 9000 people.

On Sunday Mr Evans returned to his home after being out to celebrate a birthday to discover his “pride and joy” had been stolen.

Purebred french bulldogs range in price from $5000 to $8000.

“I walked into the house and instantly saw the mess,” Mr Evans said.

“They went through the place, they could have taken other things but the only thing they touched was my pride and joy,” he said.

“She’s like one of my kids”.

Mr Evans said he had spent “years” saving up for Piper and had owned her for just six weeks.

He did not know whether he had been spotted walking her hours before she was stolen, or whether she had been the victim of opportunistic thieves who discovered her when they broke in.

“Some person came to my place and took one of the most important things in my world,” he said.

“I get angry when I think about it.”

Mr Evans said a neighbour spotted a red Commodore wagon reversing from his front door around the time Piper was believed to have been stolen.

He vowed to “continue to look under every rock” until Piper was found and said he was receiving support from the police and other french bulldog owners.

A cash reward would be offered to anyone who could bring Piper home.

Anyone who saw a red Commodore wagon in Lalor on Sunday or has information about Piper is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
