Two culinary icons of the southeast have opened their doors in Fairfield.
Cake and pastry institution Nikos has opened a second location at 254-262 Wingrove St.
Their 130-seat venue will serve the same Greek specialties that have served their Oakleigh customers so well over the past 30 years.
As well as the full line of Greek cakes and pastries, the restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And their renowned cakes will be produced under the watchful eye of pastry chef Michael Germanos.
Just up the road is Oasis, the popular Middle Eastern cafe and supermarket.
The Makool family has owned and operated the Murrumbeena site for more than 20 years.
Founder Marwa Makool said the new 176-seat store was just part of the empire’s evolution.
“Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined the success of Oasis,” she said.
“We can’t wait to welcome a whole new northside family.”
Unlike their original cafe, Oasis Fairfield will have table service and an all-day wine list.
