A man is on the run after a taxi was pinched from a home in Glenroy.
Detectives probing the Boxing Day burglary said a man broke into the Hilda St property about 8pm when no one was home.
Police spokeswoman Scout Rigoni said the intruder stole the keys to a taxi parked in the driveway and drove off.
“The taxi was located abandoned in Broadmeadows later that evening,” she said.
After dumping the taxi the man got into a white Mercedes SUV GLC, which is also believed to be stolen, and drove away.
Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
He’s described as caucasian, 30-40 years old with a thin build and short or shaven brown hair.
