A Craigieburn business owner is “gutted” after burglars allegedly stole more than $100,000 worth of hair extensions from his salon just weeks before Christmas.
Gorgeous Hair Salon owner Aimen Choughari said he was alerted to the break-in at 1.56am on December 2 when CCTV cameras triggered an alarm on his smartphone.
“I saw on the cameras there was a car out the front of the shop and a hole in the shop front,” he said.
“I saw some blokes over there and raced over as quickly as I could.”

The father-of-two said by the time he arrived at the salon on Gasoline Way, the alleged burglars were gone.
“They didn’t take any money — just hair,” he said, adding hair extensions cost about $100-$250 each.
“They didn’t even try to open the till.”
Gorgeous Hair Salon is a hair extension wholesale business that sells to salons and online retailers. It is also open to walk-in customers.
Mr Choughari said he felt “gutted” and “empty” following the bizarre incident.
“Christmas is coming up and everyone wants to look good, but we haven’t got much to sell to our customers now,” he said.
“The timing is a bit disappointing.”

Police believe a stolen white Nissan Navara was used to ram the shopfront during the break-in.
The vehicle was found dumped in Greenvale and the hair is yet to be recovered.
Hume CIU Detective Senior Sergeant Ray Freeman said Gorgeous was among three other hair salons allegedly burgled in recent weeks.
On December 3, offenders allegedly broke into a hair salon on Grand Blvd, Craigieburn about 2.30am and stole hair curlers, dryers and straighteners.
In a separate incident about 2.10am on November 29, offenders allegedly smashed the glass door of a hair salon in Ravenhill Blvd, Roxburgh Park, and stole cash from the till.
A blue Mazda 3 was possibly used in the incident.
There was another alleged burglary sometime between November 17 and 20, during which offenders smashed the glass door of a shop in Phillip Drive, Sunbury and stole a number of hair dryers and straighteners.
“Police are investigating each incident and any possible links between them all,” Det Sen-Sergeant Freeman said.
