THE BRAINS behind a popular Craigieburn ghost tour are fundraising this Halloween for four sisters left tragically orphaned.

Every year in the lead-up to Halloween since 2014, Roberto Pugliese and his mates have run free ghost tours in his house, complete with live actors, smoke machines, prizes and animated props.

This Halloween, his house was rigged up as an asylum. “Our tours are not for the faint-hearted,” Mr Pugliese said, adding the tours had become so popular they booked out days ahead. “We get a lot of people leaving crying.”

“This year, we accepted donations for the La Rose sisters after we learned of the horrific events that impacted their family.”

Last year, a decade after suddenly losing her father to a brain aneurysm, Marina La Rose and her mother Danielle won the prize for ‘Best Scare’ at the Craigieburn Haunted House during the annual ghost tour.

An actor carrying a chainsaw jumped out in front of the pair, provoking prizewinning bloodcurdling screams and plenty of laughter.

But three months later, Danielle was killed in a horrific car accident, leaving eldest sister Marina, aged 20, to care for for her three devastated younger sisters, aged 10, 12 and 15.

“The Craigieburn Haunted House posted a video of my mum and I winning the ‘Best Scare’ prize to their Facebook page,’ Marina La Rose said.

“I commented on the video and explained that my mum had since passed away, and then Roberto reached out to me.”

“We’re really grateful to Roberto and everyone in the community who has supported us.”

Ms La Rose said she would spend money raised from ghost tour donations on groceries and school supplies for her sisters.

Last weekend, visitors to the Craigieburn Haunted House raised $500 for the La Rose family.
