Carlton is the only confirmed Vic Super Slam semi-finalist ahead of the final qualifying round, which starts tonight.

The Blues are three points clear at the top of the Renegades Conference and will be joined by three of Melbourne Uni, Essendon, Geelong and Footscray in the final four.

The Students are in the box seat in second, but will need to overcome undefeated Carlton to confirm a top-four finish.

Essendon takes on Melbourne at the Albert Ground tonight, while Geelong hosts Footscray.

The Bombers will be left relying on the result of the Geelong-Footscray fixture if they fail to overcome the Demons, but could qualify for conference finals even if they lose.

Geelong and Footscray will enter their clash with the knowledge the winner will progress to the inaugural Super Slam semi-finals.

Northcote’s fixture against Fitzroy Doncaster on Wednesday will have no bearing on the semi-finals, with both sides out of contention.

St Kilda and Prahran hold the top-two spots in the Stars Conference, with five other sides — Casey-South Melbourne, Ringwood, Monash Tigers, Dandenong and Camberwell Magpies — in the mix.

The Rams host Dandenong, Monash takes on Frankston Peninsula, Prahran takes on Kingston Hawthorn and St Kilda travels to Camberwell in Round 7.

Casey-South Melbourne is third in the conference but has a bye in the last round.

Both the conference semi-finals and finals are due to be played on Sunday, with the winners progressing to the tournament final on January 27 at the MCG.
