The Rams skipper crunched what is believed to be the highest Premier Cricket one-day score, falling one run short of the first 50-over double century in the competition’s history.
Holland feasted on the Heat attack, sending the Kookaburra to all parts of AH Butler Oval to finish unbeaten on 199 in Ringwood’s total of 5-324.
He faced 157 deliveries and hit 15 fours and 8 sixes.
If not already satisfied with his day’s work, Holland then claimed three top-order scalps to finish with 3-16 from five overs, carrying Ringwood to a 164-run win over the Heat.
Holland said the thought of reaching 200 only entered his mind in the final over, needing 13 runs from the final four deliveries to reach his double century.
“I think I took about 20 off the second last over and I was batting with Joey (Loorham) and he said, ‘you could get 200 here’,” Holland said.
“That was the first time I’d actually thought of it because I was just trying to get the team above 300.
“I was just trying to accelerate the score past that and it turned out I was in striking distance to get to 200, but it didn’t quite work out in the end.”
Holland ranked the knock as the best in his career “in terms of skill and execution”.
“I think it was just one of those days where I tried to play certain shots and everything came off that I tried,” he said.
“It was obviously really good to get the win, we haven’t won many games, but to get a big score like that was pretty special.
“I think I’ve played enough cricket now to understand you have probably a few more bad days than good days so when you do have a good day like that, it’s very enjoyable and a very memorable day.”
Holland shared an 82-run partnership for the opening wicket with import Joe Weatherley (27), in his first game for the club, and a 136-run union with Josh Hartill (45).
He then claimed Frankston opener Nathan Harford (21), No. 3 Robert Salerni (21) and captain Dale Elmi (6) as Frankston crashed to 6-72 before being bowled out for 180.
Ringwood sits 14th on the ladder and will face Melbourne in a one-day game at Jubilee Park on Saturday.
