Nobody knows how it got there but this abandoned car has become a curious talking point for Craigieburn commuters.
The small silver hatchback, which doesn’t actually take up a parking space, has been a permanent fixture in the Craigieburn train station carpark for the past few months.
Undoubtedly seen by thousands of people each week, the questions on everyone’s lips is how did it get there and when will it be moved.
“It’s been bizarre to see it there for so long,” one Craigieburn commuter told the Leader.
“It doesn’t take up a car space, but it was dumped months ago.

“It’s almost become like an ornament of the station it’s been there for that long. I’ve just been wondering how on earth it got there.”
The Leader can now reveal the train station ghost car will be removed in early December.
A Metro spokesman confirmed the car was first reported abandoned on October 10 this year.
“Metro can lawfully remove an abandoned vehicle from a station 60 days after it is first reported,” he said.
“The vehicle in the car park of Craigieburn station will be removed on December 9.”
Metro said station staff conducted regular audits of railway stations to report vandalism, abandoned vehicles and other issues.
Every abandoned vehicle is logged in a database to enhance information sharing with Victoria Police, councils and other authorities.
It’s understood police removed the vehicle’s number plates while it was in the carpark.

Metro spends $10 million annually to deal with vandalism across the rail network, with people who witness vandalism urged to speak to station staff or protective services officers, call triple-0 or press the emergency buttons on trains and platforms.
