A man accused of a violent attack that left another man bleeding from multiple stab wounds in the middle of a Broadmeadows street has been charged.
Resim Demirtel faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for a filing hearing where he was remanded to appear again on January 29 next year.
He’s been charged with five serious assault offences, including intent to cause serious injury.
Police allege the Broadmeadows man stabbed a 47-year-old Glenroy man multiple times on the eve of the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
Hume detective Senior Sergeant Ray Freeman said police were called to reports of a stabbing in Avalon Ave just before 4.30pm on November 1.
He said police found a man in nearby Lahinch St bleeding from a number of stab wounds.
“Police applied first aid and the man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital by ambulance in a serious condition,” Sen-Sgt Freeman said.

He said a 49-year-old Broadmeadows man was arrested nearby a short time later.
The victim remained in hospital on Thursday in a stable condition.
The pair are believed to be known to one another.
