THE first splash of State Government funding for the potential community hub in Glenroy has been announced, with a library grant awarded to Moreland Council.
The $750,000 cash boost was announced by Pascoe Vale MP Lizzie Blandthorn last week.

MORELAND’S ‘BIGGEST’ LIBRARY COMING TO GLENROY
It comes from the council’s successful application for a State Government Living Libraries infrastructure grant and will be spent on the construction and relocation of the Glenroy Library to the Wheatsheaf Community Hub.
Ms Blandthorn said the grant recognised the changing needs in Glenroy and she would continue to look into securing funding for the hub.
Council chief executive Nerina Di Lorenzo said the funding was vital.
“The $24.5 million hub project is council’s top priority — and we need help from the state and federal governments to give Glenroy the services and opportunities it deserves,” she said.
Moreland Leader is supporting the council’s Give Glenroy A Go campaign, for $6 million in funding from both state and federal level.
Wills federal Labor MP Peter Khalil has pledged the money should Labor be elected at the next federal election.
“We’d love to see the State Government match that,” Dr Di Lorenzo said.
