Monster shakes in Melbourne are definitely still a thing

THOUGHT you’d seen the last of those crazy monster shakes? They’re still a thing — and we’ve rounded up some of the latest calorie-laden creations, including one at a new Nutella-themed dessert bar in the CBD.

The Cake Shake

THOUGHT you’d seen the last of those crazy monster shakes? They’re definitely still a thing.

Just this week, Lilydale cafe Mr Ristretto launched its new range of Easter monster shakes, served in Cadbury bunnies and topped with Easter eggs and hot cross buns.

The cafe will also soon offer a “healthier” variety of shakes, topped with fruit.

And Tella Balls Dessert Bar, a Nutella-themed shop which opens on Monday at Melbourne Central, will have the Original Tella Ball Shake, a milkshake topped with the Tella Ball — a light and fluffy doughnut ball drizzled in cinnamon sugar and filled with Nutella.

So to get your tastebuds tingling, here’s our pick of the crazy creations being served up by Melbourne cafes:

Mr Ristretto

The cafe has released three Easter shake options — the Green & Gold, dark chocolate with mint, served in a Cadbury Old Gold bunny, topped with choc-mint goodies; the Strawberries & Cream, finished with Lindt chocolate, a hot cross bun and Persian fairy floss; and the Crunchie, with plenty of chocolate on top.

And for those with a chocolate hangover after Easter, a range of “healthier” fruit shake options is also in the works.
