A lawyer of an Irymple man accused of stealing more than $92,000 in goods says his client was easily led and not thinking straight, a court has heard.

Ryan Annand, 33, and his co-accused Jason Baldwin, 23, allegedly burgled 12 properties in Merbein and Hattah between May and July 2021.

The stolen goods recovered from Annand’s Irymple property included two utes, two motorbikes, a van, a shed frame and roller doors.

Multiple power tools and an air compressor, generators, motorcycle clothing and equipment were also seized, as well as a trailer, fire extinguishers, a boat motor, car batteries, a TV and computers.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were also recovered, including oxycodone, diazepam, GVM alleged to be cannabis, Endone and a white crystal substance alleged to be meth.

A taser, a modified .22 rifle and a safe containing an illegal beretta gel blaster were also found.

Annand appeared before Mildura Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

His lawyer claimed he suffered from a mild intellectual disability which meant he made poor decisions and found it difficult to learn from his mistakes.

But magistrate Michael Coghlan said he was not convinced Annand was manipulated into allegedly committing the burglaries.

He also said he was shocked by the “enormous amount of property” found at Annand’s address.

Annand was remanded in custody until August 9, while his co-accused was granted bail on Friday and will appear on August 18.
