A 23-year-old paedophile had contact with children five times after he got out of jail and didn’t tell police about it, breaching his reporting obligations.

Nathan Doherty, from Mildura, had been jailed in 2021 for a string of attacks on multiple victims between the ages of 13 and 15 between March and May in 2019, including sexually penetrating a 13-year-old girl at Kenny Park in Merbein.

On Thursday, Doherty found himself back in Mildura Magistrates Court for ten breaches relating to obligations that stem from him being a registered sex offender.

The sex pest — who is on the sex offender registry for life — was found to have failed to tell police he had had contact with a child no less than five times.

The court also heard Doherty had failed to report a change of address three times, and had used internet service providers, namely iiNet and Spintel, twice without a reasonable excuse.

He was sent back to jail for seven days but Magistrate Michael Coghlan urged the 23-year-old to take his reporting obligations more seriously or face more jail time.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan urged Doherty to take his obligations seriously or face more visits to court and more jail time.
