A Mildura druggie pushed an elderly woman to the ground and threatened to stab her during a series of harrowing incidents at the victim’s home, a court has heard.
Selda Agbulut fronted Mildura Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to multiple charges including unlawful assault and driving under the influence.
The court heard Agbulut’s elderly victim was traumatised and struggled to sleep after being tormented over the course of several nights across November and December.
On November 13, Agbulut went to her elderly victim’s home and incessantly banged on the front door, continuously ringing the doorbell. It was on this occasion Agbulut shoved the woman down and threatened to stab her.
Police arrested her after this incident and she gave a no comment interview. The court also heard Agbulut had been aggressive toward police.
The same scenario played out another two times in early December before Agbulut was arrested again.
Agbulut also failed a roadside drug test in April, testing positive for methamphetamine.
Magistrate Patrick Southey said Agbulut’s mental health remained a concern and her presentation on the link still troubled him.
“Her mental health has been significantly compromised by her drug use,” Mr Southey said.
She lost her licence for six months and received a fine totalling $293.10 for the driving matters.
Agbulut was assessed, but ultimately deemed unsuitable, for a community corrections order
“Had you not pleaded guilty, you would have received a sentence of one month,” Mr Southey said as he handed down his sentence.
She was sentenced to 15 days behind bars reckoned as pre-sentence detention and immediately released from prison.
