A Mildura couple accused of neglecting their child have been ordered to stand trial at the County Court over their allegedly vile offending.

A Mildura couple accused of neglecting their child have been ordered to stand trial at the County Court.
The pair is accused of criminally neglecting their baby between December 2021 and September of 2022
They face serious charges including allegedly negligently causing serious injury, allegedly failing to take action that resulted in significant harm to the child’s physical development and health and four counts of allegedly leaving a child unattended without making reasonable provisions for the child to be supervised.
The pair attempted to get the case adjourned through their lawyers, but were rebuffed by a magistrate that felt they had ample time to prepare, pointing out numerous adjournments throughout the 2023 calendar year.
The accused couple did their plight no favours by showing up late to their committal hearing, much to the chagrin of the court, before entering their respective not guilty pleas.
The trial is scheduled to begin on March 6.
