A 21-year-old Mildura man who had recently been released from prison is headed straight back to jail after he nicked two cars to take on joy rides.

Nathan Ferguson-Dolan was released from prison on December 15 after serving time on aggravated assault charges.

On Thursday he returned to the Mildura Magistrates’ Court after he stole two cars in the space of a week.

Ferguson-Dolan was arrested as a passenger in a stolen BT50 Mazda ute on January 24.

He was bailed on January 25 under strict conditions, including a curfew.

But just days later, on January 31, at 2.50am Ferguson-Dolan helped himself to a Holden Statesman from the driveway of a Mildura address and took it for a joy ride.

He was discovered by police walking on Fourteenth St about half an hour later and arrested for violating his bail conditions.

Police then found the keys to the stolen vehicle in his pocket when conducting a search.

The stolen Holden Statesman was found on Flamingo Dr, some 25m from the intersection at Fourteenth St.

Ferguson Dolan pleaded guilty to motor vehicle theft charges and was sentenced to 21 days in prison for his crime spree.
