The man accused of a Melbourne CBD stabbing spree assaulted a man in Footscray nearly four years ago.
Christopher Raftopoulos, 32, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over an assault he committed in February 2021.
The court heard Raftopoulos, who is separately accused of a Melbourne CBD stabbing spree last January, punched a man in the head and hit him multiple times in the face in Footscray on February 20, 2021.
He fled the scene, with police later seizing a phone, speaker, and cap that he had left behind.
Raftopoulos was arrested in August that year.
Magistrate Magistrate Andrew Halse called the incident a “serious example of an unlawful assault” and said such violence “cannot be accepted”.
Raftopoulos, who remains on remand, pleaded guilty to assault and theft, and Mr Halse sentenced him to 14 days in prison.
In relation to the stabbings allegedly committed by Raftopoulos in early 2024, the court heard an application remained afoot about his fitness to enter a plea.
Last week, Raftopoulos was sentenced for an assault in Berwick in December 2020.
He has spent 381 days in custody.
