The man accused of a Melbourne CBD stabbing spree poured Pepsi on a woman’s head during a tantrum triggered by her not turning on his Xbox quickly enough.

Christopher Raftopoulos, 32, who allegedly stabbed multiple people in Melbourne in January 2024, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court over different charges on Wednesday, including an assault.

The court heard that on December 28, 2020, Raftopoulos became angry when a woman tried to turn on an Xbox gaming console at a home in Berwick — which he thought she had done too slowly.

An argument ensued and Raftopoulos poured a can of Pepsi over the woman’s head, threw her phone at her back, and dropped her iPad on her head.

Raftopoulos has spent 374 days in custody.

He then smashed wine glasses in the garage and drove the woman’s car to a nearby petrol station despite having a suspended licence.

Raftopoulos returned to the house in an “erratic” state once police had arrived.

He pleaded guilty and was fined a total of $1800 and handed 28 days’ prison which he has already served, having spent 374 days in custody.

With regard to the “mass stabbing” allegedly committed by Raftopoulos in early 2024, the court heard there remained questions about his fitness to plead given a diagnosis of schizophrenia, multiple psychiatric admissions, and involuntary treatment orders.
