Fawkner non-fatal shooting

The alleged gunman involved in a horror road rage spat in Fawkner where multiple shots were fired at a group of men has been ordered to stand trial in County Court.

Luke Wilson-Hickey, 21 from Heidelberg West, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court from custody on Wednesday for a committal mention on nine charges.

He was charged by Armed Crime Squad detectives in August 2024 following a five-month investigation.

Mr Wilson-Hickey was prohibited from using a firearm at the time of the incident.

Court documents allege multiple shots were fired at a group of men who were then chased with baseball bats following a car ramming at Charles Mutton Reserve at 6pm on February 29, 2024.

Five men were seated inside a white Nissan Skyline when it was rammed by a gold Holden Rodeo, allegedly stolen from Bundoora the same day.

Police linked the violence to an earlier road rage incident between the Nissan and a black cherry SUV less than an hour earlier.

CCTV released by police showed four males running from the stolen Holden and firing several shots at the five men before going after them with baseball bats.

A 19-year-old Clifton Hill man who was in the white Nissan required hospital treatment for a gunshot wound to the upper body after he was shot in the arm through the window.

The alleged assailants returned to the Holden about 90 seconds later, fleeing the scene before crashing into a red Mazda hatch on the Western Ring Rd minutes later.

Mr Wilson-Hickey will appear in County Court on February 19.
