After just one season in the Outer East, Hallam will return to the Southern Football Netball League in 2024.
The Hawks competed in a Southern league Division 4 preliminary final in 2022 before moving for the 2023 season.
Outer East clubs voted 19-3 in favour of accepting the Hawks at the end of 2022.
Thrown into the competition’s second division (Division One), the Hawks netted just one win.
With just seven teams in Division One and six in Division Two, the competition declared it would merge its second and third flight – as well as promote some teams to Premier Division – in 2024.
Remaining in AFLOE would’ve had the Hawks face Seville, Healesville, Alexandra, Belgrave, Powelltown, Yarra Junction, Warburton Milgrove, Broadford, Yarra Glen and Yea.
The Hawks will return to Division 4 of the Southern league.
SFNL CEO Lee Hartman said the Hawks were a welcome return back to the competition.
“It’s great, we didn’t want to lose them in the first place so it’s good to see them return and come back to play in the Southern footy league,” he said.
“They’ll help strengthen our Division 4.”
South Yarra will too return to Division 4 senior football after withdrawing its senior team this season.
