Ex-St Kilda City coach and president Richard Houston will lead a fellow Southern league club in 2024 and is enthusiastic about a “fresh start”. See why.

Richard Houston is excited by the idea of a fresh start.

The ex-St Kilda City president and coach will lead Southern league Division 4 club Moorabbin Kangaroos in 2024 where he is eager to “focus on footy”.

“It’s a completely new atmosphere, it’s exciting, I have been at City for so long, in and out of that place, sometimes you just need a fresh start,” he said.

“A fresh start is going to be fantastic and that’s why I didn’t worry about Division 1, 2, 3 or 4 whatever, it’s around the corner with a beautiful ground.

“Muhammad Kiki runs the club well off field with the committee there, which I knew about before starting.

“So to be able to have a fresh start and just concentrate on footy is going to be fantastic.”

The Roos theatrically parted ways with former coach Steve Ralph after both the reserves and seniors were about to face off in a preliminary final.

While there’s a new man in charge, the expectation to continue the club’s ascend remains.

“The expectation is that we have a good footy side, put them out there, be competitive and who knows where we can go,” Houston said.

“I like to have an attacking brand, very much let the players play with free will and I expect to win – that’s the biggest thing.

“We will just try and make the club the best we can.”

At this stage the Roos will be competing against Hampton, Dandenong, Doveton Eagles, Lyndale and Clayton.
