Former Blackburn captain Anthony Fagan will coach the Eastern league top-division club in 2024.

The 34-year-old replaces Brendan Allen at the helm, who exited the role in September after six years.

Fagan carved out more than 100 senior appearances for the Burners across a decade, tying for the best and fairest in 2012 after landing at the club from Geelong Amateur in 2011.

NORWOOD

Two-time premiership mentor Brett Moyle is back in the Eastern league’s top-flight – this time as senior coach of Norwood.

The Premier Division outfit recently confirmed the 43-year-old’s appointment, succeeding Marty Pask who stood down from his post of five years at the end of the season.

Moyle coached Wantirna South in 2023.

PARK ORCHARDS

Dual Eastern league premiership coach Paris Harvie is back – this time as Park Orchards’ leading man.

Succeeding Dennis Armfield in the role, Harvie brings senior coaching experience across multiple clubs including Doncaster East, Mooroolbark and most recently North Ringwood.

But it was his stint at South Croydon during the 2000s which took the club to the top division with flags in 2006 (Division 3) and 2009 (Division 2), alongside a grand final appearance in ‘07.

Park Orchards will compete in the league’s second tier in 2024 after suffering relegation from the top division.

SOUTH CROYDON

Former Blackburn coach Brendan Allen will steer the Bulldogs in 2024.

The ex-Sandringham VFL assistant exited Morton Park in September after six years in charge.

The Bulldogs were led by interim coach Damien Franken for the remaining six matches of their campaign after Marcus Buzaglo stepped down from the role in July.

South Croydon president Stephen Quon said Allen stood out in a lengthy selection process.

“After taking our time to explore many avenues we determined that Brendan was the most exceptional candidate meeting every single criteria we were searching for,” he said.

“We are putting no limits on what we can achieve in the future under Brendan.”

Clint Evans has been re-signed as coach of the Wickers, taking him to a fifth year in charge. The club finished the season in ninth spot with a 6-12 record.

EAST RINGWOOD

Ben Osborne has been locked in until the end of 2025.

The ‘Roos’ mentor led the club to its first senior premiership in two decades in 2022 – earning promotion from the second tier into the league’s top division, with the club featuring in finals this year.

Osborne landed the role in September 2019, with the extension to send the South Croydon premiership hero into six years at the helm.

Ryan James is in for a further two years, taking the Lions’ mentor through until the end of 2025.

James coached the club into a second-consecutive Premier Division finals series this season, after a semi-final berth in 2022.

The club said it had been “blown away” by James’ “professionalism on and off-field”.

VERMONT

Adam Parker is secured for 2024 after taking the club to a grand final in ‘23.

Vermont president Danny Ross said he was thrilled with the reappointment.

Parker coached the club to a top-of-the-table finish this season after missing the finals in 2022.

“We’re really happy that we have Adam locked away for next season,” Ross said.

“Our continued improvement on the field, after a bit of a slow start to the season, was clearly one important factor in our decision to re-sign Adam.

“’Parks’ also has outstanding relationship skills and he has built a great rapport with our younger playing group over the past two seasons.”

CROYDON

Croydon has turned to a Norwood premiership hero as its next senior coach.

Jordon, who captained Norwood in a career spanning a decade and some 150 games at the club, takes over from outgoing coach Morris D’Alessandro, who stood down after six years in charge.

Jordon also brings previous experience as a player with Northern league power West Preston-Lakeside and VFL club Coburg.

He makes the move back to the Eastern league after serving the past two seasons as coach of Old Paradians in the VAFA’s Division 2, among a host of assistant roles in the Northern league in the years prior.
