MONTROSE coach Peter Bastinac will remain at the Division 1 club in 2019 as the Demons plot their path back up the top flight ladder.
Bastinac, who signed on from Rowville at the end of the 2017 season, secured Montrose’s place in the 10-team Premier competition next year after a five-win season.

The Demons made finals in 2014 the year after winning the Division 2 premiership but have finished out of the top five for the past four seasons.
Bastinac said Montrose was well-placed to attack next year.
“I think we’re in a lot better shape than where we were this time last year, I think we lost 17 players out of our best 22 a month after I took the job on,” he said.
“It was looking tough but we got through, we brought some good players in and they’ve all recommitted so that’s exciting.
“The obvious goal from where we were was to remain in Premier and build from there, but it’s going to be a tough competition that’s for sure.”

Recruits Jordan Bastinac, Tim Jones, James Wilsen and Mitch Davis are among those to put pen to paper for next year.
The Demons will also look to bolster their under-19s stocks over the summer after going through the season winless, keen to build a bank of one-point players.
Bastinac said Montrose would target mature-aged footballers to build its midfield depth.
“Tim Jones and Jordy (Bastinac) sort of carried our midfield for most of the year with young bodies, so if we can get some support around those boys and just some improvement from our younger Montrose boys,” he said.
“I just think if we can get our off-season right, bring in the players that we need, I think we should be competitive.
“I’m not going to make any bold predictions but obviously to remain competitive in the Premier league, that is going to be our goal.”
